Abstract:
The shapefile OKCokingCoalDeposits represents polygon areas of coking coal in the State of Oklahoma in the United States in the Arkoma basin and the Henryetta district. The shapefile format can be viewed using ArcGIS or any software package that supports this data format.
Purpose:
The shapefile is intended for use in a GIS project to display the areas of coking coal in the State of Oklahoma in the the Arkoma basin and the Henryetta district.

The original maps used to create digital representations of coking coal areas in the State of Oklahoma were published by Cardott (2013), Dunham and Trumbull (1955), and Averitt (1966). Digital shapefiles were created by Michael H. Trippi of the U.S. Geological Survey.

The commercial portion of the Oklahoma coal field in the Arkoma basin was saved as a feature in a new shapefile, then split into separate features based on their rank.
